We know the temptation is REAL to try out all of the latest makeup trends and products, but does this mean you neglect (and often waste) the products that you already have? We have looked into some top tips to make sure you are getting the most out of your existing products, and keeping on-top of your makeup and Beauty product organisation.

1 – Have a regular purge...

Did you know that different cosmetic products have different shelf lives- just like food products? Keep an eye out for this handy little symbol on your products’ packaging- it’s a guide for how long an item should be kept for once opened.

Don’t forget to look out for the expiry warnings on your cosmetic products.

Be especially mindful of holding on to products that might harbour lots of invisible bacteria, like mascaras or liquid eyeliners- just because they look ok, doesn’t mean they aren’t carrying some nasties! And if you know you have been holding on to a particular product as a back-up, or ‘just incase’ product, then maybe it’s time to get rid!

Top Tip: You might find it handy to add a small label onto each product and add the date of when it was first used so it is easy to spot which products might just be past their best!

Sometimes the best way to have a good sort out is to make a mess; pull together your entire makeup collection and sort through it thoroughly. Get rid of those old products and only keep those you regularly use.

Make sure you use up anything that’s already half-empty (or half-full 😉) before opening a new product.

If you find you have anything new that was bought on a whim, or maybe gifted to you but you know you won’t use, the product doesn’t have to be wasted. Why not offer it to family or friends, or seek out some local women’s charities that are open to taking on donations.

2 – Keep it clean

Keep your beauty brushes and sponges stored separately from your beauty products to make sure everything is kept in top condition. There is nothing worse than smears of foundation or loose powder completely covering the contents of your makeup bag.

Useful Makeup Brush Caddy’s will help to keep your other products nice and clean.

Keeping your brushes proudly on display will remind you to give them a regular clean to keep the space looking as fresh as possible, and also let you know if a brush or sponge is on its last legs and needs replacing. If you haven’t used a product for a little while, and it is still within its expiry date- make sure you clean before use. For things like pencils or lipsticks, simply sharpen or slice off the top exposed area to reveal a nice fresh layer of product underneath.

3 – Only buy what you need!

Ok, this is probably easier said than done, especially when there are SO many products out there that you feel like you can’t turn down- BUT, the more you buy, the more you have to store. This is a great way to make sure you keep your makeup bag or dressing table looking uncluttered and in perfect order. If you have a lovely place to store your makeup- you are more inclined to want to keep it looking clean, fresh and, most importantly, organised!

Is an In-Drawer organiser the solution to your makeup organisation nightmares?

The power of a bag, storage box, or in-drawer organiser with designated sections for each product type really shouldn’t be underestimated, and it really does make your morning routine a breeze if everything is in its place ready to be used.

We hope these 3 helpful tips will help you to organise, declutter and make the most of your beauty products. If you have any other tips, we would love to hear them 🙂
